Eastleigh Championship – Round 1 - New championship hopefuls get into their stride – 12.2.12
The 2012 Eastleigh/Southampton Championship got underway with a host of great performances with the welcome of new arrivals to the championship putting in good performances along with new championship hopefuls putting in stella performances to place themselves in strong championship positions after the first round.
Juniors:
In the heats championship hopefuls Marshall and Bamberg put in good solid drives giving themselves a great chance for the Final. Jones put in a very composed performance on his debut in the Junior class after making the transition up from the Cadet category.
For the start of the Final Marshall got a great start to take the early lead, however Bamberg made a great move up the inside of Marshall to take the lead, which he then gradually consolidated. Behind, Billings had made a great start to place himself just behind Marshall, however Billings then made a lunge into the first corner sending Marshall wide and picking himself up a penalty dropping him a lap down and out of contention. Also behind saw Bowers carving his way through the field however he then suddenly lost the rear of the kart going into the final corner, which dropped him down the order. Both Bowers and Marshall however made fantastic recovers to work themselves back up through the field to take second and third in class.
Cadets:
In the heats both Wylie and Hutton put in very strong performances making them the guys to beat for 2012. This championship also welcomed several new drivers, which put in good performances with Tom Newnham even making it into the Final on his debut in the Championship!
For the Final Hutton got a great start to take the early lead however Wylie was right behind him, ghosting him down the straight before Hutton left a very small gap, which Wylie took straight away and dived up the inside to take the lead. Wylie then got his head down gradually pulled away from the field to take the win. Behind saw a fantastically close race between Cooke and Watts, which saw both drivers glued together throughout the race and lead to a photo finish with Cooke taking third from Watts by only two tenths of a second. |

Brand New! – The Racing Perfection Kart Academy expands to Brighton!
We are pleased to announce that our Academy program is expanding to include the TeamSport Brighton circuit. The brand new venue provides fantastic facilities along with a very technical but rewarding circuit.
For drivers that would like to enter the Brighton Academy Championship a qualifying round is set for the 26th February were you will be assessed by our instructors.

The postponed Round 7 – A nail biting finish to both Championships!
The final round provided a fantastic season finale with both championships being separated by only 1 or 2 points going into the final round.
Juniors:
After a very strong performance in the heats, Marshall lined up on pole position for the Final and used her starting position to great effect by getting ahead in the first corner and never looking back. Behind saw an intense battle for 2nd with five karts only separated by 1.5 seconds. Heading this battle was Bamberg who positioned his kart extremely well throughout the race to fend off Bowers, Reid and Fletcher. At the line Marshall took a comfortable victory with Bamberg taking 2nd by the smallest of margins.
Reid’s calculated drive secured him 1st place in the Junior Championship from Newell with Marshall’s dominant drive leaping her into 3rd place overall.
Cadets:
After picking up two wins and a second place in the heats Armitage gave himself a great opportunity to pull himself into contention for the championship and lined up on pole position for the Final. In the Final Armitage got a great start and pulled a gap quickly on the chasing pack providing him some breathing space. Behind saw championship contender Sawkins get caught up by an accident and a barrier, which put him down the order putting his championship hopes on the ropes. Phillips and Wylie got good starts with Wylie setting off after Armitage to take a strong second place with Phillips keeping 3rd from Reynolds.
After the races had been completed the drivers had a short but tense wait to hear the final championship positions and when they came the points showed that the top three were only split by 3 points after 10 rounds with Sawkins taking the Championship title by only 2 points from Reynolds and Armitage! |

Round 10 – Reid and Armitage take the spoils, whilst both Championships get very close
Round 10 of the championship saw a great number of drivers putting in strong performances making it very close in points going into the Final with a number of top championship just drivers missing out.
Juniors:
The Juniors Final was extremely close with all drivers getting a good start off the line, however an accident early on dropped several drivers off the lead group. Reid took the lead early on and behind there was a fantastic battle for second place developing with newcomer White leading the way from Newell and Bamberg. With only one tenth separating each driver from one another none of the drivers could afford to make a mistake, making for some very exciting racing. Ahead of the battle for second Reid gradually pulled a gap and settled down into a rhythm to increase his lead and take a strong victory, whilst behind the battle for second was finally won by White followed by Newell and Bamberg
Cadets:
The Cadet Final saw some fantastic racing with Armitage getting a great start to break away from the field to take an early lead. Behind though saw several accidents involving a number of drivers, which brought the red flags out several times. After the restarts though Armitage kept his cool to increase his lead to take a comfortable victory. Behind championship contender Sawkins got a good start however had to defend heavily from a hard charging Hall. The battle was very close with both drivers swapping positions multiply times with Hall just taking the victory in the end over the line from Sawkins. |

Round 9 – Both Marshall and Hutton shine
This round show fantastic performances throughout the grids with championship contenders putting in great drives to either protect their position or to keep them in the title hunt along with several drivers nearly scoring maximum points from the event.
Juniors:
Billi Marshall was on great form producing two wins and a second place during the heats to put herself on pole position for the final. With a flying start Marshall established a small lead, whilst behind Newell was putting in a good drive fighting his way through the field, however got caught out in an accident, which dropped him down the order. Several red light stoppages brought the field close together for the final few laps, however on the restart Marshall built up a comfortable margin to take victory from a raging battle behind that saw a photo finish for second, which was won by Bowers from the championship leader (Reid).
Cadets:
Lewis Hutton also put in a stella performance in the heats with two victories and one second place to line up on pole position. Hutton took full advantage of his grid slot putting himself in first place with a lightning start and then got his head down to break away from the chasing pack. Championship contenders Sawkins and Reynolds got good starts moving themselves into second and third places however neither could quite bridge the gap between either themselves or the flying Hutton. The championship fight is now closer than ever with only 4 points separating Reynolds and Sawkins on drop scores. |

News: Round 9 – Event date changed!
Round 9 of the championship is now set to be held on Sunday 16th October (originally 23rd October).
The postponed Round 7 has now been rescheduled for Sunday 11th December

Round 8 - Reid takes the Junior championship lead after a dominant performance and the Cadet championship really heats up on drop scores
This round of the championship welcomed the arrival of several new drivers to both championships with several of the drivers putting in fantastic first visit performances with both Davies and Phillips taking heat victories!
Juniors:
Reid put in a fantastic performance by winning 2 out of 3 of his heats with Marshall taking the win in heat 2. For the Final Reid got a great start and built up a comfortable lead, whilst behind an incredibly tight battle was raging for 2nd, 3rd and 4th, with places chopping and changing with Bowers taking second over the line with Billings and Marshal taking third and fourth with Fergie fifth.
Cadets:
All of the championship contenders put in stella performances to line themselves up in strong starting positions for the Final. For the start of the Final Sawkins had pole position, however his kart bogged off the line, dropping him down the order, however he put in a great drive to pull himself back up to fourth place over the line. Cooke got a great start and quickly took the lead in the early laps, got his head down to take a command victory over the line along with a large pot of points to pull himself back into contention for the championship.

Billings makes successful transfer and Reynolds regains championship lead
The 2010 Cadet Champion Brandon Billings made the transfer to the Junior Championship after round 3 of this championship. After only three rounds he has taken his first final victory in the class. This round also saw Thomas Reynolds regain the Cadet Championship lead from Charlee Sawkins.
Junior Final:
Both Billings and Marshall made great starts off the line, slotting themselves into 1st and 2nd for the early part of the race. Billings then got his head down and started to pull away from the field to take his first victory in the class. Behind, Fletcher was gradually moving up the order after getting caught in the pack and took 2nd place after Marshall had a moment, which dropped her down to 5th, which also allowed Hollman to take the last step of the podium at the line.
Cadet Final:
Reynolds got a great start to take the early lead, however quickly had to defend from a hard charging Hutton. The lead swapped several times before Hutton managed to complete a cut back on Reynolds and put in some quick laps to create a gap, which he held to the line. Reynolds and Allen took 2nd and 3rd over the line. Reynolds now has a 17-point lead in the Championship going into Round 7 |

Reid pulls off the hat trick and Hadley makes a dominant return
Round 5 marked the halfway point of the 2011 championship, which is really heating up with very tight battles for both the Cadet and Junior Championships, especially on dropped scores.
Cadets:
Jai Hadley achieved a dominant return with a strong performance in the heats along with one of the main championship contenders Thomas Reynolds returning after a months break. Novice driver Brandon Hall also put in a strong performance in the heats providing him with a good starting position for the Final race.
For the Final Hadley got a great start and got his head down to pulled away from the field. Behind a fantastic battle for 2nd was developing between Reynolds and Jones that lasted the entire race with only 1 tenth of a second separating the two drivers for the majority of the race with Reynolds just keeping 2nd from Jones over the line. Further down the order Hall spun on the first lap dropping him down to last place however put in a great drive after to pull himself back up to 5th place behind Armitage who achieved a solid 4th.
Juniors:
In the heats Marshall put in a great performance taking her first ever heat victory and also championship content Reid was starting to really get in to his stride after utilising a new driving technique picked up from the tuition modules earlier.
For the Final Reid got a great start and put in some very quick laps to break away from the field to take his third Final victory in a row. Behind Marshall was defending hard to keep 2nd place, however just lost out to the hard charging Bamberg who had got a bad start off the line dropping him down the order however had made a great come back to take 2nd place over the line followed by Marshall and current championship leader Newell. |

Armitage and Reid take commanding victories whilst rivals battle
Round 4 of the 2011 championship saw a number of title contenders return after a months break along with the arrival of several new comers to both championships.
Cadets:
With a number of drivers sharing the victories during the heats it was shaping up to be a very close race in the final. A new arrival to the championship (Hamish Bailey) made it all the way to the Final in his first visit to the Academy and was battling for a podium position before receiving a penalty for contact, which dropped him to 6th. Armitage made a great start and made his way through the pack to take a comfortable victory with Sanderson and Cooke taking 2nd and 3rd positions.
Juniors: During the heats Reid put in a very strong performance to take pole position, which he utilised to establish a small gap on the chasing pack. In the final few laps the front-runners came across the recovering Polkinghorne after a spin, which Reid judged perfectly to slip through and provide himself with a buffer from the chasing pack. Fagan-Mills took the outside line to pass Polkinghorne however got squeezed to the barrier, which allowed Newell to slide up the inside into the first corner taking 2nd place away from the championship leader in the last few seconds of the race. |

Maiden victories go to Sawkins and Reid for Round 3 of the 2011 championship:
Cadets:
With four different winners during the heats (Brandon Billings, Aaron Cooke, Euan Irvine and Ryan Cooke) it was shaping up to be a very close Final race and it did not disappoint with Aaron Cooke taking the early lead and putting in a very strong performance by holding onto the lead for most of the race. Just behind him however Charlie Sawkins had got his head down and pulled off some fantastic overtaking moves to pull himself up into second place and then took the lead only a few laps from the end. Brandon Billings after a bad start was working his way up through the field with some very good careful driving after receiving a black flag in the heats. At the chequered flag Sawkins had managed to pull a comfortable margin to take victory with Brandon Billings 2nd, Aaron Cooke 3rd and two Academy returnees (Oliver Armitage and Euan Irvine) taking 4th & 6th with Ryan Cooke 5th.
Juniors:
Both Connor Fagan-Mills and James Reid shared victories within the heats. For the Final Reid got a fantastic start and broke away from the pack to take a comfortable lights to flag maiden victory. The championship leader (Fagan-Mills) got a bad start however gradually worked his way back up through the pack to take 3rd just behind Michael Newell who took a very solid 2nd place. |

Round 2: Newell and Billings close the gap on championship leaders
Round 2 of the 2011 championship again produced fantastically close racing, which saw three different winners in both the Cadet and Junior classes.
Cadets:
Heat wins went to Aaron Cooke, Charlee Sawkins and Brandon Billings. In the Final Thomas Reynolds got a great start and quickly settled down into a rhythm and pulled away from the field. Brandon Billings initially held 2nd however lost out to a hard charging Aaron Cooke and Charlee Sawkins with Aaron taking his best ever Final finish of 2nd and Sawkins equalling his best result of 3rd.
Juniors:
Heat wins went to Henry Fletcher, Adam Bamberg and Michael Newell. Newell lined up on pole position for the Final and got his head down to break away from the field to take a comfortable victory, which helped him reduce Fagan-Mills’s championship lead to only 3 points. Fletcher had a great start however dropped to 5th after leaving a small gap, which allowed a hard charging Fagan-Mills, Bamberg and Reid to slip through to take 2nd, 3rd and 4th |

2011 Academy Championship Prizes!
We are proud to announce that we are able to provide the following fantastic prices for the 2011 Academy Championships:

Final round of the 2010 championship: Billings takes the win and the Cadet Championship title in a nail-biting end of season finally.
With still the Cadet championship and the 2nd/3rd place positions in the Junior Championship to sorted out going into the final round of the 2010 season it was always going to be a tense set of races and it certainly was.
Cadets:
Edward Luffman put in 2 heat wins along with good results in the other races however it was Brandon Billings that took another strong victory in the Cadet Final and with it the Cadet Championship title.
Juniors:
The Junior Champion Connor Fagan Mills had wrapped the title up with a round to spare so he could relax slightly for the final round. He put in another great performance, racking up an additional 2 x heat wins and 1st place in the Final. The 2nd and 3rd place positions in the championship were still up for grabs between Michael Newell and Adam Bamberg with Michael winning the battle by just 2 points.
2011 Season:
The 2011 season will start in 6 weeks time with the first round taking place on Sunday 20th February (Round 1 of a 10 round championship). Full championship dates can be viewed within the ‘Dates’ section of the website or below. |

Billings and Newell take the victories in round 7:
Round 7 of the Racing Perfection Kart Academy welcomed a number of new arrivals to the championship with Jean-Mickael putting in the strongest showing of the new comers with some new adult drivers taking the opportunity to get some testing in ready for next years championship.
Cadets:
Within the heats Luffman, Caldwell, Billings and A Cook took victories with strong showings from Hadley, Sawkins, Jones, Jean-Mickael, Hammond and the improving Jeffrey. The final produced some fantastic racing with Billings taking a lights to flag victory from a back on form Caldwell. Third place was very close and eventually going to Luffman on the line from Reynolds.

Juniors:
The heats produced 4 different winners from 4 heats with Henry Fletcher obtaining the most points to place himself on pole position for the Final. At the start of the race Fletcher and Newell broke away from the pack to turn it into a two man dice for the lead with Newell taking the victory over the line from Fletcher. The championship leader (Connor Fagan-Mills) had a tough time in the heats however managed to make it through to the final and put in a strong performance to fight his way up the grid to finish 3rd, which provided him with enough points to wrap up the championship 1 round early. The honour of fastest lap of the day went to Henry Fletcher. |

Current Championship Status:
Juniors:
Connor Fagan-Mills has managed to wrap up the Junior Championship with one round to spare after taking 9 Heat wins, 4 Final wins and has achieved 7 podiums out of 7 Finals. His main rivals Adam Bamberg and Michael Newell have put in strong performances throughout the year and will battle for 2nd place in the championship at the final round in January.
Cadets:
The Cadet championship is very tight and will be decided at the final round of the championship. The current leader is Edward Luffman with an advantage of 15 points going into the final round after strong and consistent performances throughout the year, however with the 3 drop scores included in the totals it leaves Brandon Billings in the lead by 8 points so it will go down to the wire.
Adult and Gosport Championships:
The Adult Championship is currently being lead by Dave Bryant and will be decided at the final round. The Gosport championships are still very close with the Cadets being lead by Ollie Caldwell from Sophie Jeffrey and the Juniors being lead by Josh Morley from Bailey Polkinghorne going into the final round. |
